Running Your First 100 Mile Trail Race
Q) Ray, I have my first 100 mile ultra trail race next weekend and was wondering if you could give me any last minute tips. Mike Kendig
a) Mike, I hope that you have your training miles in and are ready to face the challenge ahead of you. My advice at this point is never give up. The mantra from the Leadville Trail 100 is “You are better than you think you are, and can do more than you think you can”. You have an endless supply of raw guts and courage, you just need to believe in yourself and tap into that. I met a woman at the Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile Trail race this year and the longest run that she had ever done was 12 miles, plus it was her first time ever running on a trail. She finished the 100 mile trail race!
