Q) Ask Ray: Hi Ray, I’ve noticed you have ran the Rocky Mountain Double Marathon in the past and notice you’ve been wearing the New Balance MT101’s. Are you planning on wearing these shoes for this race?

A) Since this ultra trail race is not at all technical, most likely I will wear my New Balance MT 101s. My back-up shoes will be the Vasque Blurs.

Q) Ray, how come with all the experience that you have, you didn’t take matches and a lighter on the trudge? That’s like going skiing and not taking your skis. Also, you might want to think of doing 1 lap next time. You must not have been thinking clearly toward on your second lap.

A) I Know, I know. I actually had them in my hands and left them behind. A bad oversight on my part. Next year I will be doing two laps again and will be even better prepared.

A) Thank you so much. The Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile Ultra Trail Race went very well for me. I finished in 22 hours 9 minutes 9 seconds which in my new PR for 100 mile trail run.

IT Band Pain when Running

I have been having IT Band Pain when Running, what do you suggest?

Michelle) Ray, for my training for the Boston Marathon (my very first marathon) I have to admit this is the hardest week I have had so far… weather didn’t help it much as all of my runs were on a treadmill (barf!) It could stop snowing now I think we are good (we may never see the grass or roads again). My knee bothered me all week, tired, unmotivated but pulled through and just got it done. Hoping to relax tomorrow and start again strong on Monday.
